John Woolrich’s Pianobook VIII comprises four miniatures from 1997-99; when played together they last 8 minutes. Opening movement ‘Andacht zum kleinen’ is followed by a lyrical Barcarolle. The third movement is a flamboyant tribute ‘After Rameau’; ‘After Evesham’, sweeter and more lyrical, closes the set.  Each piece received premiere performances from eminent pianists, including Stephen Gutman, Ian Brown, Stephen Kovacevich, and Catherine Edwards.

“…these tiny pieces were fully-formed and explored a specific mood or idea to the full within their limited span.”
